Rains lash Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah: Reports of flooding in some areas

As a storm surge continues to unleash across the UAE, reports of flooding in parts of Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Sharjah are coming in from eye witnesses.

According to the UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), the wet weather will continue to increase over scattered areas, especially over the northern and coastal areas of the UAE.

Drivers have been asked to take caution on the roads while driving “because of poor visibility due to dust and sand in open areas, along with taking care with slippery roads”.

Sanchari from Sharjah posted that visibility was almost zero earlier today due to the heavy downpour, saying: “Heavy rains still continues in Sharjah Industrial area and near Sharjah airport, visibility is almost zero. Drive safe people.”

It’s Dubai Traffic tweeted: “Very heavy rain and low visibility in Sharjah heading towards Dubai. Drive safely please.”

Meanwhile, reports of flooding in parts of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah have been pouring on Twitter, with the internal roads logging in nearly over a foot of water, according to one eye witness.

Some of the residential avenues in the Al Hamra Village complex has waterlogging in areas, while Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road turn off into the emirate has also flooding in the area.
