RAK driver rams into reversing vehicle; dies

Dense fog on Tuesday claimed a motorist’s life in Ras Al Khaimah.

A 34-year-old Arab was killed in a fatal collision with a vehicle driven by an elderly Emirati.

The 60-year-old national escaped with injuries, according to police.

Colonel Ali Saeed Alalkimi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Police, Ras Al Khaimah, said the accident happened because of heavy fog on Tuesday morning.

The deceased driver could not see that the elderly man was reversing his vehicle and he rammed into him, causing his car to veer off the road and crash into a barrier.

He died on the spot under the impact of the crash, said  Alalkimi.

Police patrols and ambulances rushed to the site and transferred the body to hospital for further procedures, while the elderly driver was treated for injuries.

Police have called on all residents to exercise caution during unstable weather conditions.
