RAK woman fined Dh500 for stabbing herself

A court in Ras Al Khaimah fined an  Arab housewife Dh500 after she was found guilty of trying to commit a suicide by stabbing herself with a kitchen knife.

The woman had been rushed to hospital with stab wounds in the abdomen but was saved by doctors, newspapers said.

She confessed to police that she tried to kill herself because of persistent family problems.
