Rapist sentenced to life in RAK

A criminal court in Ras Al Khaimah sentenced an Asian man to life in jail after he was convicted of raping an Arab woman in the northern emirate.

Police had arrested the rapist after the woman bit his hand hard and left a mark that constituted a clue for the rape.

The woman said she was exercising at a beach in the emirate when the man attacked and raped her before she bit him and fled.

Newspapers said the court also ordered the deportation of the defendant after completing his jail term.
