Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) has announced plans to allow renewal of the ID cards through smartphones.

Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) Director-General Dr Ali Mohamed Al Khouri revealed that the authority provided these applications for the institutions and authorities that supply services to the customers so as to contribute to facilitating procedures.

He said the Eida was going to launch a service for renewing the ID card directly through call centres within the next two months.

Besides, work on expanding the use of the e-registration form across the country is underway.

Eida has begun carrying out the project of setting up electronic kiosks at commercial centres to hand over ID cards to customers.

It will be experimentally applied in the emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah within the next two months, and will then be circulated in the entire country by the end of this year, Al Khori revealed.

Dr Al Khouri has stressed that the higher management of Emirates ID is keen to closely monitor work progress at all registration centers across the UAE in order to ensure delivery of quality services and satisfy customers' needs.

Al Khouri underlined Emirates ID's dedication to continuously communicate with its employees at registration centers to address the challenges they face and to find proper solutions to them.
This in turn should contribute to achieving the highest level of employee satisfaction and upgrading the level of performance in the registration centres, since they are Emirates ID's main points of contact with customers.

He made these statements during an inspection visit to Al Karama Centre in Dubai. The visit is part of the regular field visits paid by the Emirates ID Director-General to become familiar with the progress of work and ensure the highest levels of quality in services provided to customers.

During the tour, Al Khouri met with a number of customers and listened to their viewpoints and feedback with regards to the standard of services provided to them. He also listened to the employees’ remarks and checked the facilities provided for them to make sure they execute their work in a convenient atmosphere that encourages creativity and productivity.

Emirates ID has recently carried out renovation and redesigning works at Al Karama Centre aimed at upgrading the level of its services and increasing its daily capacity to serve 1,000 customers through 8 registration lines.

Al Khouri called upon all Emirates ID employees to maximize their efforts in order to upgrade the level of services provided to customers and ensure quality in all aspects of work in order to maintain the Authority’s achievements in the field of institutional excellence.
This should also boost the steps taken by Emirates ID towards fulfilling the requirements of the UAE Government Excellence Programme and attaining a ‘7-star’ ranking.

He called on employees to treat applicants the same way as they treat guests, by paying them the utmost attention in implementation of the directives of the UAE prudent leadership.
This is also in compliance with one of the most outstanding values emanating from the Emirates ID's strategic plan 2010-2013, namely focusing on customers.

There are three main registration centers for Emirates ID in Dubai, at Barsha, Rashidiya and Karama, in addition to the Residency and Foreign Affairs, Ruler’s Court and Hatta Offices.
Further to these, there are 6 registration centres attached to the Preventive Medicine Centres across Dubai, at Muhaisnah, Baraha, Satwa, Qouz, Knowledge Village and Jafza.
These are out of 55 registration centers and offices affiliated to the Emirates ID across UAE, which serve 27,800 customers daily.
