Revenge is sweet when tasted cold... in jail
The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld seven years in jail term against an Iraqi charged with burning the car of his wife and the house of her sister.
AH 32, was also charged with trespassing at his wife's house, damaging her property, and endangering her life and that of a police officer.
According to the records, AH, who was released from prison in October 2009 committed himself to make his wife RK, 27, pay back for sending him to jail and on the 20th of the same month he broke into the house of his wife’s sister and set it on fire.
While she and her relatives watched the fire, he climbed over the wall to RK's house, which was adjacent, broke into her Infiniti car and drove it through the home's gate.
A police officer who was patrolling the area when the accident happened testified that red and yellow blaze that he saw coming from the upper floor of a villa grabbed his attention. “Moving towards the villa, I saw some people were rushing out. A woman told me that her husband who was recently released from jail has threatened with killing her…Then I heard a sound of a car running and I saw the accused who was driving the car crashing the garage’s gate and then left the place…He was about to hit me and his wife.”
AH drove the car straight at his wife and a police officer before barely avoiding them and speeding off. The car was later found burnt near Mushrif Park.
AH has denied the accusation before the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance which had awarded him seven years in jail.
