Ronaldo taken on desert safari in UAE

Portuguese football superstar got a taste of the UAE desert this week when a group of Emirati young guides escorted him and his son for a 45-minute ride in the dune Buggy ranger deep in Sharjah, a newspaper said on Saturday.

Spain’s Real Madrid player is in the UAE for a few days to attend a sport conference in Dubai and to shoot a promotional film for Emirates airline, Real Madrid’s official sponsor. He is due to address the conference on Saturday after spending Christmas in Dubai with his son and Russian girl friend Irina Shayk.

“He spent nearly 45 minutes with us in the desert and I was really surprised by his modesty and kindness,” said Mohammed Al Hashmi, who was among the team that accompanied Ronaldo during the trip to the desert Badayer area in Sharjah emirate.

“He told us he wanted to make this desert safari so his son would enjoy the fascinating nature of the desert…he wanted to go on a safari in a buggy car and since we have been involved in importing such cars from the US, we were happy to take him.”

Hashmi said Ronalda took many photographs of the area and some shots with them, adding that “he never stopped smiling during the trip.”

“We made sure he had a great time…of course we did not talk about football because I am a strong fan of Barcelona and he might get upset,” Hashmi said.
