Rubber-necking Harley biker compounds Sheikh Zayed Road crash ramming into cops, worker

Three accidents on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai yesterday left 13 people injured, according to Emarat Al Youm.

A car, being driven by a person under the influence of alcohol, collided with a minibus, causing the minibus to flip and leaving it jammed between barriers on the side of the road.

The bus was carrying Russian tourists.

Six persons were injured some of them seriously.

In the second incident, which took place within few minutes of the first, and at the same spot, an Arab riding his Harley-Davidson rammed into the police patrol investigating the first accident.

The biker also hit a Dubai municipality worker who was cleaning the wreckage of the other accident.

The man has had to have his leg was amputated, according to Colonel Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Acting Director of the Dubai Police Traffic, who added: “The biker flew about four metres away and fell to the ground where he also seriously injured .”

He added that despite proper precautions and road safety equipment used while securing the site of the first accident, the biker continued to ride through on the shoulder of the road.

The third incident on Sheikh Zayed Road saw the collision of two vehicles resulting in five people injured.

The accident took place just before Garhoud Bridge, in the direction of Deira.

The driver of the first vehicle stopped in the middle of the road because of his car was broke down.

A vehicle carrying people on their way to Dubai airport couldn’t avoid a collision and five persons were injured.
