The security patrols of Al Rashidiya Police station in Dubai took control of a horse that had run away from a nearby school and caused a traffic jam on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road yesterday.

The horse was captured by Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police’s mounted police.

The director of Al Rashidiya Centre, Brigadier Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman, said the control centre received a report at 13:45pm about a horse on the loose on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, near Al Rashidiya Bridge towards Sharjah.

Bin Sulaiman added that the horse escaped from one of the schools in the Rashidiya area that house horses for the purposes of education and sports.

The school principal told the authorities that he received a call from the security guard at the school reporting that the horse managed to escape while the front gate of the school was opened for the buses to exit.

For his part, Colonel Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police, told Arabic daily Emarat Alyoum that the police managed to take control of the loose horse and no damage to vehicles or people was caused.

The horse was then transported by one of the mounted police’s carriages to the municipality.
