The recently launched Samsung Pay facility will now be even more accessible when shopping for groceries, as Samsung Pay and Visa have partnered to offer UAE shoppers a simple, convenient and secure digital payment service for a limited period when they shop at Lulu and Union Coop Hypermarkets. Branded checkout counters are now in the hypermarket stores, exclusively for Visa cardholders.

"This recent partnership to introduce Samsung Pay with Visa at Lulu and Union Coop Hypermarket for a set period is a representation of our commitment to providing our customers with a safer, smarter and better mobile wallet," said Mohammad Gharaibeh, Head of Enterprise, and Mobile Business at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

"Samsung smartphone users will now be able to make convenient contactless payments at their favorite hypermarkets. This partnership will make cashless payments easier and simpler for everyone. Our goal with Samsung Pay is to drive and lead innovation in the digitalisation of payments systems throughout the UAE."

As part of the campaign, Visa will be offering customers the chance to win one of 65 brand-new Samsung S8 smartphones simply by paying via Samsung Pay at the store counter or by playing the game on Visa's Facebook page.

"With Samsung Pay still in its nascent stage in the UAE, this campaign will help to incentivise Visa cardholders to adopt this useful new technology. We are excited for customers to experience how much simpler and quicker grocery shopping can be when they opt for cashless payment transactions, and are delighted to partner with two of the UAE’s leading hypermarkets, and our long-time strategic partner Samsung to make the lives of our cardholders hassle-free and rewarding," added Mohanish Agni, Head of Merchant Sales and Solutions, MENA, Visa.

Samsung Pay is accepted wherever Samsung smartphone (and some smartwatch) users can swipe or tap their credit card in the UAE, and merchants do not need to update their existing terminals. UAE Samsung smartphone users are able to perform transactions at almost any merchant in a simple, convenient and secure manner, without having to use a plastic card. The mobile service is secure and compatible with the latest Near Fields Communication (NFC) and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technologies. Smartphone users are now able to use Samsung Pay at their favourite retail outlet, as well as at thousands of independent stores.
