Accessing your child’s school progress has never been easier.

Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has launched a smart app at this year’s Gitex, allowing parents to track their child’s progress.

That's not all. The app will also permit parents to sign the parent-teacher contract, which has been introduced in all schools from this academic year, without physically heading to the school.

"This option is exclusively for those parents who head to the KHDA stall at Gitex, and scan their Emirates ID and that of their child, so it can be authenticated," explained their spokesperson.

Parents can now head to Gitex, scan their Emirates IDs and that of their child’s and sign-up as new users at the KHDA stand in Dubai Smart Government Hall until October 22. Once registered, parents can read and sign the school contract through their mobile phones.

If they are unable to go to Gitex, parents can head to their child's school, as all of the institutions are provided with Emirates ID scanners for this purpose.

The parent-school contracts provides both parties with a list of duties and responsibilities towards each other.

The app will significantly reduce pressure on schools which earlier had to individually invite parents to sign the contract digitally by visiting the school.

“We have added a host of new smart services linked with Emirates ID to make it easier and more convenient for both parents and education providers,” added Mouza Al Suwaidi, Chief of Engagement at KHDA.

The smart app is beneficial for parents, educators and schools, and allows them to access the services of the education regulatory board.

The app features a ‘Happy Home’ section for parents which allows them to track their child’s progress with personalised information. It also enables parents to check school inspection ratings, search for schools or universities in the emirate, and read up on the literature shared on What Works collaborations.

KHDA’s new initiatives have been announced in line with Dubai Smart Government’s theme of ‘Powering a city of delightful moments’.
