Several Dubai schools hiring teachers for September session

Several schools in Dubai are looking to recruit teachers at various levels for the new academic year starting September 2014.

The most prominent ones that feature on the list are those from Gems, Taaleem schools and Innoventures Education.

Jumeriah English Speaking School, popularly known as JESS, is looking for Arabic teachers, primary class teachers, teachers in biology, English, drama and theatre studies – all for the session beginning September 2014.

Jumeirah Baccalaureate School, an international school by Taaleem group of schools, is looking for part-time support teacher of English as a second Language and primary and secondary substitute teachers to begin next month.

For the September intake, the institution is looking to hire primary class teachers including music teacher.

For its secondary school, teachers are required for various subjects – mathematics, music, English language and literature, English as a second language, design technology, IT, geography, history and business studies.

Innoventures Education is looking to recruit teachers in its various schools, including Dubai International Academy, Raffles World Academy, Raffles International School, Raffles International Nurseries and Collegiate American School.

At the elementary level, the group is looking for deputy head of school, KG1 and KG2 teachers, Year 1-6 classroom teachers and Arabic and Islamic teachers.

For secondary school, deputy head of school, teachers in subjects such as English, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, modern foreign language, business studies and economics, humanities, design technology, art and drama are needed.

Other schools like Star International School in Mirdif and Umm Sheif is also looking to recruit teachers. Indian curriculum school Springdales Dubai is also looking to hire primary school teachers.

Schools in the city are continuously looking to add more teachers as intake of students has been on the rise. In its inspection report for 2012-13, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority said that private schools sector in Dubai continues to show robust growth year-on-year.

Student enrolment increased by 8.7 per cent for the 2012/13 academic year and the intake for teachers also went up by the same percentage.

According to the KHDA’s figures, Dubai has a student-teacher ratio of 16:1, which is among the best in the world. Unesco figures reveal that developed countries have a student-teacher ratio of 13.7:1.

Among different curriculum schools in Dubai, Indian schools have the worst student-teacher ratio of 21:1, while UK, US schools have a student-teacher ratio of 14:1.
