Sharjah Police on Monday launched a campaign against indiscriminate parking of vehicles in front of mosques during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure safety and comfort of the residents.

Colonel Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Director-General of the Sharjah Police, said the authority has also put in place a plan to eliminate begging in residential areas, near mosques and markets during the holy month, which is likely to begin in the first week of next month.

He urged cooperation from the public, government agencies and private institutions to curb these negative practices across the emirate.

Sharjah Police, he explained, has taken several measures such intensifying patrols on all internal and external roads, increased monitoring around mosques and educating vehicle owners not to leave valuables inside – among others – to combat these phenomena.

He called on public to inform police on 901 for any suspicious activity.
