Sharjah campaign to curb jetski accidents

Sharjah Police has launched an awareness campaign titled ‘Entertainment without injuries’ with the aim of curbing jetski accidents.
 
Colonel Shawaf Abdul Rahman, Head of Sharjah Traffic Department, said jet skis are a means of entertainment and can help relieve stress in summer but it can be risky when riders get reckless and endanger not only their own lives but also that of others’.

The campaign includes the inspection of jet ski renters to ensure safety. As many as 60 jetskis have been confiscated following police inspection.

“We have repeatedly warned beachgoers not to violate safety rules,” he said.

Col. Rahman urged beachgoers to follow instructions to avoid deadly accidents and urged them to wear life jackets.

He also advised public to avoid areas of the sea with high waves and strong currents.
