Sharjah dad abducts kids from ex-wife, flies abroad... then dies

A father abducted his three Emirati children from his ex-wife and travelled out of the UAE before he was found dead by Sharjah social service authorities.

Officials from the Sharjah Department of Social Services said they managed to prevent a disaster when they found the three shocked children with their father’s body abroad.

“He kidnapped them from their mother and travelled out of the UAE. This caused them to miss school for nearly 90 days,” the Department’s director Afaf Al Marri said, quoted by the Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum.

“We managed to find the man but he was already dead. We also found the children, who appeared unable to do anything given their age. They have been subjected to an unintentional harm what could have turned into a real tragedy.”

She said their mother had won custody of the three boys as the court decided that they must remain with their mother at this age.

“I appeal for all parents to look after their children and refrain from burdening them with their rifts.. Children must be kept outside family disputes,” she said.

Marri did not identify the couple nor did she mention where the father died, or how.
