LPG cylinder prices in Sharjah has been hiked from today (March 6, 2012) for the second time in two months.

Sharjah residents will now pay Dh17 to Dh25 more on medium- and large-sized cylinders compared to those living in Dubai.

While Dubai residents will continue paying Dh120 and Dh250 for a 22kg and 44kg cylinders, those in Sharjah will shell out Dh137 and Dh275 respectively.

However, Sharjah residents using the smaller 11kg cylinders will only be paying Dh69 instead of Dh75 being charged in Dubai for the same.

According to an announcement by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) the price hike will be effective for a month until April 6.

A customer service executive from the Economic Development Department told 'Emirates24|7' that he is not sure what will happen at the end of a month. “It could be reversed or it might go up again,” an official said.

This is the second time in two months that the gas prices in Sharjah is being raised.

On February 6, SEDD increased LPG prices to Dh64 from Dh58 for 11 kg, Dh128 from Dh117 for 22 kg and Dh250 from Dh234 for 44kg cylinders.

LPG in Dubai was priced at Dh70, Dh105 and Dh220 for the three different sizes in 2011.
