Sharjah orders hike in basic salary, promotion

H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree No. 35 of 2016, for an increase in basic salaries and promotions for Emiratis in public institutions.

Under the first article of the decree, the minimum overall salary for citizens working with the government of Sharjah will be raised to AED12,000 after deducting the share of pension and without the addition of children allowance, the nature of work allowance, as well as technical allowance for doctors and medical technicians, and others.

The second article stated that the minimum pension for locals in Sharjah before joining the General Authority for Pensions and Social Security, will be raised to AED12,000 per month for those who are insured. And as stated in the General Authority for Pensions and Social Security law, this will be applicable to heirs.

The third article stated that all Emirati employees who hold the secondary school certificates will be promoted from the Grade eight to Grade seven with immediate effect.

This decree is effective from 1st June, 2016. It was issued with a recommendation from the Executive Council. The decree shall be published in the Official Gazette.
