Sharjah Police arrest 1,617 illegal residents

The illegal residents and workers caught by Sharjah Police.

Sharjah Police have arrested 1,617 illegal workers and residents in the emirate as part of the ongoing campaign against violators of UAE immigration laws.

Those caught were accused of offences like illegal entry into the country, escaping from sponsor, engaging in illegal acts, returning to UAE after deportation etc.

Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak, deputy commanding general of Sharjah Police, said a large number of the offenders were caught from abandoned buildings, buildings and workshops under construction and unused labour camps.

Brigadier Mubarak called on members of the public to cooperate with the police’s campaign by not dealing with such law breakers and also by reporting on violators of the law and their illegal acts by calling 800 151 or by email at najeed@shjpolice.gov.ae.
