The Traffic and Patrol Department of the Sharjah Police General Command revealed that they had registered 10,358 cases of traffic violations in the two weeks following the implementation of new amendments to the federal traffic law.

The list which covers the period from 1st to 13th July does not include speed violations of traffic control devices.

Major Mohamed Allay Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrolling Department of Sharjah Police, explained that the department had recorded the violation in accordance with the Ministerial Decision No (178) of 2017 on traffic control procedures and rules, and schedule of violations since the beginning of July.

He pointed out that the patrols had intensified awareness on the emirate’s roads through the distribution of awareness leaflets to the drivers and road users to introduce them to the new amendments to the federal traffic law.

Major Al Naqbi has called on road users to abide by and adhere to the traffic rules and laws, stressing that the implementation of these procedures would motivate drivers to abide by the laws and regulations, thus contributing to the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to make the country's roads safer.

Sharjah Police have been sending awareness messages through various media, such as audio-visual means, as well as official accounts on the social networking sites of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, to ensure the highest levels of traffic safety for all road users.
