His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday announced that the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is set to develop Al Hisn Island, a leisure and tourist attraction located in Dibba Al Hisn.

Overlooking the Indian Ocean, the project is located on a reclaimed island that was built as a residential area, facing the Flag Square in Dibba Al Hisn, which was developed by Shurooq.

The new development will feature a water canal, a host of restaurants and cafes, in addition to a movie theatre, children's playgrounds and other amenities.

The new project, which is now in the planning and design phase, will feature unique Islamic Andalusian designs inspired by Al Hamra palace. Al Hisn Island will raise the level of attractions and services offered in Dibba Al Hisn.

Further details about the new development will be announced during a press conference to be hosted by Shurooq.
