Shepherd killed a compatriot over money dispute

A Sudanese shepherd allegedly killed a compatriot by stabbing him with a knife over a financial dispute.

The fight broke out in the camel market on Dubai-Al Ain road, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

SAS, 24, is accused by the prosecution that he premeditatedly killed Mohammed Abbas Mohammed by stabbing him with a knife following a financial dispute broke out while they were in the camel Market.

Mohammed Omar Al Suddiq, 26, Sudanese Shepherd testified that on December 9, 2011, he was in the camel market at Murghem area and that he saw the accused and the victim were fighting.

“I rushed to them to stop the fight. As I arrived the victim fell on the ground bleeding intensively and the accused was standing next to him with a small knife in his hand. Suddiq Mohammed Ali took the knife from the accused and caught the accused. I put the victim’s head on my lap while he was passing away. Another shepherd Haidar Abdul Baqi rushed to the scene and we carried the victim in his vehicle and rushed to the main road until ambulance arrived. Medical staff confirmed that the victim had died. He was stabbed twice,” he testified.

Suddiq Mohammed Ali, 42, Sudanese shepherd repeated the same testimony.

Haidar Abdul Baqi, 42, Sudanese driver testified that he saw the victim lying on the ground bleeding.

“I took the victim in my car to the main road and waited for the ambulance. He sustained two stabs down his heart and the other a little further towards the belly,” he testified.

Sergeant Saeed Amer testified that while he was patrolling on Al Ain – Dubai road at the 6th intersection he saw a group of Sudanese who told him that there was man in their car who sustained injury. He notified the operation room and arrested the accused.

Corporal Suhai Hai testified that the accused confessed to his crime but claimed that the victim started the brawl and hit him with a steal bar which police did not find in the crime scene. Police confiscated the knife.

Forensic report suggests that the stab which was close to the heart was deep and caused his death. There were other superficial wounds on his body.

Forensic denied the claim of the accused of being beaten by the victim with a bar or any other sort of attack.

The court adjourned the case until February 22.
