The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate has called upon motorists to abide by traffic laws, reduce speeds, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles during the Hijri New Year holiday.

Under a campaign titled ‘Road Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility’, the directorate reiterates that abiding by
the law ensures the safety of road users and decreases all causes of road accidents, deaths, and serious injuries.

Lt Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic
and Patrols Directorate, stressed the importance of being alert especially when traveling or driving to
a different city.

The police have released the following guidelines to stay safe:

-       Ensure tyres are in good condition
-       Be careful of poor and foggy weather, so select the most convenient time to travel
-       Abide by traffic laws and driving carefully when it is raining
-       Keep a safe distance from other vehicles, maintain a distance greater than required under normal weather conditions
-       Stop car safely in case of sand- or rainstorm to avoid collisions and accidents
-       Never exceed speed limits under any circumstances
-       Drive slowly on road curves and in tunnels

Al Ameri instructed all drivers to get ready for the winter by checking windshield wipers and tyre conditions.
