Smuggler who hid drugs in stomach gets 10 years

A Tanzanian visitor, who smuggled 877gm of drugs in his digestive organ, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Dubai CriminalCourt.

SA, 34, had arrived from Nairobi when a senior inspector at the Dubai airport noticed his strange behavior.“I suspected a passenger wholooked scared and wanted to finish his check out formalities as quick as possible,” said senior inspector Mohammed Ahmad.

The police then searched him physically but found nothing. “Checking him via a scanning machine, his body showed containing strange materials,” he testified.

SAA confessed to smuggling 77 drug pills in his digestive system which he released in Rashid Hospital.

The accused was ordered to pay Dh100,000 fine and deportation after serving his 10 years jail term.

The Dubai Prosecution had asked the court to apply stiff penalty against the accused.
