Speed mayhem on UAE roads kills two, injures two children

An Emirati woman was killed on the spot in a traffic accident on Monday in which three other passengers, including two children, of the car she was driving sustained critical injuries.

The fatal mishap occured at about 3.30pm on Al Dhaid Road when the 35-year-old Emirati, who was speeding, lost control of the car causing it to veer off to the left, overturn several times over and crash into a cement pole and later a gate of a deserted farm, according to media reports.

The injured include the deceased's sister and her two children aged six and four.

Police and ambulances immediately rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to Al Dhaid Hospital. 

Fatal mishap

In a similar incident of over-speeding, a 20-year-old Pakistani lost his life on Emirates Ring Road in Ajman on Monday evening at about 5pm. The car turned over several times before settling on the roadside, reported 'Gulf Today'.

Since the beginning of Ramadan most fatal accidents reported occured between 3pm and 7pm, when motorists are in a rush to reach homes.

Captain Khalid Al Kai, Director of Traffic Awareness at Sharjah Police, urged motorists to respect speed limits and be vigilant while entering highways from internal roads.
