Two Emiratis were killed and three others seriously injured on Saturday in a fatal car crash on Madinat Zayed-Ghayathi road in the Western Region.
According to a report in 'Al Ittihad' newspaper, one of the cars that was speeding hit another vehicle - with two Emiratis - that was getting on to the main road from a subway.
Both the cars turned over under the impact of the collison, killing the two nationals on the spot.
The three passengers in the second car were seriously hurt as the front tyres of their vehicle came apart and the car caught fire.
Major Suhail Sayah Al Mazroui, Acting Chief, Traffic Department, Western Region, said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
Meanwhile, the injured have been transferred to Madinat Zayed Hospital.
Police patrols and Civil Defence oficials rushed to the place within minutes and took control of the siuation, added Al Mazroui.
