Stop price hike following pay rise

Sultan Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, has called for a need to take necessary measures to prevent traders and commercial outlets from hiking the prices, exploiting the recent resolutions of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the increment of salaries of the federal government employees.

He added that an effective work plan will be enforced in coordination with the competent local departments nationwide.

The remark was made on Tuesday during the meeting of the ministry with the local market control authorities and consumption protection, chaired by Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry.

Al Mansouri thanked the control authorities for their efforts to curb the price hike by traders in the light of the federal employees' salary increment, calling for a joint work plan to tackle this pivotal issue through stepping up daily inspection tours on the markets.
