Student summer jobs in UAE, pay could be Dh5,000-plus

With school holidays just around the corner, number of students will enrol in extra classes or travel to other countries to keep themselves busy. Many, however, will also look at some part-time job opportunities in the country to make some extra money and stay busy at the same time.

There are plenty of options if you see yourself in the latter category. Many part-time jobs, especially for students, have been posted on social media and job portals.

UAE companies are looking for sales promoters, presenters, flyer distributors, hostesses, part-time secretaries, models and candidates for several other roles. And, with Dubai Sumer Surprises (Summer is Dubai) coming up, options should only increase.

The salary, we must add, shouldn’t be bad either. Last year, jobs posted on Facebook quoted a salary of Dh4,000 and went up to Dh8,000 per month for those looking to work during their summer vacations. The pay should go up marginally this year as the inflation rate has gone up in the past 12 months.

Many such jobs are also posted on online job portals. If you do not want to step out of your homes, there are jobs to be done from the comfort of your zone at an average pay. For example, you can become a home typist and get paid per assignment.

Some companies are also offering summer internship programmes to graduates and undergraduates. This can be a good way to add value to your CV, which will come handy at a later stage in your career.

If making some money during your holiday excites you then you should start searching now. The earlier you start applying for summer jobs, the more choices you'll have and you will hopefully land one that suits you the most.

Ask yourself what is it that you want – do you want to be a camp counsellor, be a part of a summer tutoring programme, do you want to work at a mall, in an outdoor setting or in an office environment?

The first step is to decide what type of summer job you want so we recommend not to delay your search anymore. If you are less than 18 years, you also need to check the legalities involved.
