Sudden swerving, high-speed leaves four dead during Eid holidays in Sharjah

Four people died in road accidents in Sharjah over the Eid Al Adha holidays, with 16 others injured over the nine-day break.

According to Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm, the Central Operation room of Sharjah Police received 32,350 phone calls that ranged between criminal offenses, traffic reports, along with various other emergency and non-emergency cases.

Major Khalid Al Kai, Director of Branch of Traffic Awareness and Information at Sharjah Police further disclosed the 16 injuries varied between simple, medium and serious.

He added most of the accidents was due to sudden deviation and high speed.

Lieutenant Colonel Jassim bin Hidah, Director of Operations, Sharjah Police said the central operations room has received  27,225 phone calls over the Eid break  through the 999 number allocated for emergencies.

Another 5,125 non-emergency calls were placed to 901.
