'Technical' fault halts Dubai Metro for an hour

Dubai metro service was disrupted for an hour on Sunday evening as a result of a technical fault.

Passengers were asked to disembark from the train at the Business Bay station. According to an RTA information service official the service was halted from 3.50pm.

“It was caused due to technical fault. The engineers worked on the issue and it has been rectified. The service has since been resumed,” said the official.

One of the passenger who spoke to Emirates 24|7 said they were surprised when the train suddenly stopped at the Business Bay station. “The station was pretty crowded. Many people were waiting in the station hoping that the trains would resume. Some of them went out but there were no taxi available,” said Reema Suares.

According to the RTA official the service was restored just before 5pm, before the evening rush could begin. “Only those trains from Business Bay towards Jebel Ali were affected. All other services were operational as usual,” the official added.
