Top-5 most popular ‘lunchtime’ plastic surgeries in Dubai

Plastic surgery treatments are fast gaining popularity in the UAE, especially in fashion-conscious Dubai, say medical experts.

They maintain that an increasing number of residents of the UAE and in the region are now opting to go under the knife here in Dubai rather than going outside the region to enhance or correct those features of their body that they believe may not be perfect.

According to Dr. Mendhy Khan, Medical Director of American British Surgical and Medical Centre, approximately 1,000 new patients contact them per month from the region. These are people who are looking for some kind of treatments to modify the way they look.

The trip to Beverly Hills and closer to Beirut can be cut short by stepping into the many centres and clinics in Dubai that are offering treatments not just to residents, but also attracting tourists to look better.

But what exactly is that most residents and visitors want changed in their bodies? We asked the experts.

According to American British Surgical and Medical Centre, the most popular and demanded treatments in the UAE include rhinoplasty (nose job), breast augmentation and liposuction… as people get more beauty conscious.

Most patients are looking for procedures that range from Botox/fillers, Rhinoplasty, facelift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction etc. through to weight-loss surgery.

Dubai Cosmetic Surgery clinic offers a long list of treatments like Botox, brow lift, cheek and chin implant and even dimple creation among many others.

The clinic says most of these procedures take minimal time, calling them ‘lunchtime’ surgeries, which one can undergo and walk away home the same hour of the day.

The concept of payment plans is also becoming popular in this sector, roping in those patients who may not be able to pay upfront.

As cosmetic surgeries are elective and therefore not covered by insurance providers, several clinics in the city have started offering extended payment plans for those with the intention of getting under the knife but who may be a little short of cash.

People from the region seem to be the ones most conscious about their looks as they make up the biggest clientele. “We have a vast array of nationalities that come to us. However, 50 per cent of our patients are of Arab background,” says Dr. Khan.
