Traffic alert: Afternoon gridlock on SZR, Dubai

Motorists on Sheikh Zayed Road should brace themselves for afternoon gridlock due to a crash reported on the highway today.

Dubai Police confirmed that an accident on Sheikh Zayed Road, heading northbound, has resulted in gridlock from Al Safa Park from 2pm onwards.

In a tweet on its social media account, the authority said: “An accident has been reported on SZR after Al Safa Bridge, towards Dubai World Trade Centre; please be extra cautious.”

Eyewitnesses are reporting traffic jams stretching 2km, while commuters are warning others on social media to anticipate 30-45 minute delays.

Details of the crash have yet to emerge, but motorists can try alternative routes including Al Khail or Al Wasl roads.
