Traffic Alert: Al Khail road glass-lock

If motorists are wondering why Al Khail Road is facing gridlock on the southbound commute on Monday morning, then rest assured, it has nothing to do with the lean summer traffic period grinding to a halt.

According to eyewitnesses, sheets of glass have fallen off the trailer bed of a goods carrier on Al Khail Road, before the Meydan Road/Business Bay exit, which has resulted in tailbacks extending towards Dubai Silicon Oasis.

K Sridhar spoke to Emirates 24|7 saying: “At 9.15am, there is still heavy traffic on Al Khail Road because of the shattered glass pieces that are spilled across several lanes of the highway.

“Motorists are slowing down and trying to avoid those lanes, but as the incident has occurred in the middle of the highway, there is a heavy rush and tailbacks all the way beyond the Al Ain exit.”

Commuters can expect 20-30 minute delays, according to eyewitnesses.
