Traffic update: Truck flips over in Sharjah

A two-car collision near the Business Bay Metro Station roundabout in Al Safa area has blocked the exit to Sheikh Zayed Road, resulting in a huge traffic snarl extending up to Al Wasl Road.

Dubai Police patrol cars are on the scene tryign to get the traffic moving.

One of the care involved in the accident seems to be a total write-off, according to eyewitnesses.

There are at least 5 schools in the area east of Al Safa Park as well as officess.

Truck flips over on Sharjah-Dhaid highway

Meanwhile, in another accident, a heavy goods carrier flipped over on the Sharjah-Dhaid highway, breaking through the central barrier and causing traffic jams on both sides of the road.

Sharjah Police has confirmed the incident, stating: “A truck has been involved in accident on the Sharjah-Dhaid highway, between Interchanges 8-9. So please take caution and slow down while driving.”

Debris from the truck has blocked one lane of the two-lane road, heading towards the Central Region, while part of its body has also crashed through the divider causing its tyres and parts of the wreckage to block one lane on the opposite side of the highway.

Sharjah Police is investigating the accident; it is unclear if anyone has sustained injuries. 
 
 
Minivan overturns on Hessa Street

Earlier, in the morning, a minivan reportedly overturned on Hessa Street, in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road, causing traffic snarls stretching to Al Khail Road.

The accident occurred around 7am, with Dubai Police currently on the scene.

An eyewitness, EB, to the incident spoke to Emirates 24|7 saying: “A white minivan is overturned on Hessa Street, with the body of the vehicle crushed very badly.

“Two ambulances were still at the accident site, with Dubai Police trying to manage the growing traffic tailbacks.”

EB also said that no second car was visible to point towards a collision.

This is the second incident involving a people’s carrier with 15 workers killed in a fatal crash on Dubai’s Emirates Road on Saturday morning.

According to Dubai Police, that incident happened when a bus carrying 29 workers collided with a truck after the Dubai Club Bridge in the direction of Al Ruwaiyah.
