Transit passenger caught with 4 kilos of cocaine

A Filipina transit passenger caught at the Dubai International airport has admitted of smuggling four kilogrammes of cocaine that she intended to carry from Ivory Coast to Peru.

Facing charges of smuggling drugs, she pleaded guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance but sought a quick judgement since she was in transit and not on a visit to the UAE.

The 36-year-old woman identified as MS was caught with 14 plastic bags containing 4,072 grammes of cocaine.
A police corporal on duty at the airport testified that the woman’s movements raised his suspicions. He then asked a female colleague to check on the woman who looked totally confused and scared.

She admitted of carrying the contraband in her checked-in baggage. Police recovered the two bags from the luggage belt and found the drugs hidden in one of them.
