An alleged drug trafficker, who escaped imprisonment after being arrested 11 times over several years, again landed in the police net, a senior officer said on Thursday.
The police said they had the case wrapped up this time and were sure he would go to prison, reported Khaleej Times on Friday.
Major-General Abdul Al Jalil Mehdi, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Dubai Police, said the 30-year-old Emirati imported various types of drugs and distributed them among his compatriots and even in schools.
He worked through a network of agents and assistants who went to prison taking the blame whenever he was caught, and who were later set free after he allegedly bailed them out.
Police raided his house in Nad Al Hammar on October 2 and arrested him after tracking his movements for many months. They, however, did not find any narcotics and he was taken for further questioning. Based on his confession, the police confiscated 15,000 pills worth Dh153,000.
