Two held in UAQ for slashing friend with axe

Umm Al Quwain police arrested two men for attacking a friend with an axe and causing severe injuries to him following a dispute, a newspaper said on Monday.

Police nabbed the unnamed two nearly two days after they axed their friend in the neck and other parts of his body before fleeing to another emirate.

One attacker had been jailed before on other charges while the second defendant had been deported from the UAE but managed to sneak back illegally.

“After the attack, they fled to another emirate and rented a room at a hotel in another name…we succeeded in catching them 48 hours after the attack,” said Major Salim Halees, director of investigation at UAQ police, quoted by the semi official daily Alittihad.
