Two Indian expatriates are believed to have drowned while bathing in the sea near the Jumeirah Open Beach on Friday evening.

Initially only one body was found, and a search for the second body continued well into Saturday.

However, by 7pm on Saturday, the second body was also found.

According to sources in the Al Riyami Group, where the two missing employees were working, a group of five staffers, all from the South Indian state of Kerala, had gone to the Jumeirah beach on Friday evening.

Of the three who survived, one person was reported to be in a critical condition.

One of the deceased is Rijesh Puthiyapurayil who worked as an accountant in Al Riyami’s head office. His body is now kept in the police morgue.

The other is Shinil Puthiyapurayil, 26, who hails from Payyannur near Kannur and worked in the building materials division of Al Riyami Group.
