Two jailed for robbery attempt
Two men were awarded jail – each two years - for attempting armed robbery of a jewellery shop in Naif area and damaging others’ properties, Dubai Criminal Court ruled.
MA, 31, and TA, 25, who confessed the theft before the court in the previous hearing were also ordered deportation after serving their jail term were also accused by the Prosecution of damaging property.
According to the records, the accused planned to rob Diamond Palace after watching the shop for a few days and on May 8, they entered the shop pretending buyers and then attacked the salesman AR, with knives. MA controlled his movement and tried to prevent him from screaming. But the salesman resisted him and screamed for help.
A salesman from the next-door shop rushed to the shop and saw two men assaulting AR with knives and as they saw him, they ran away.
AP, Bangladeshi, testified that they ran through the glass door. I chased them until catching one of them. There was blood on his shirt and his knife was left on the shop’s floor.
