Two Emiratis who impersonated CID officers, entered a house and stole the wallets of the residents were sentenced to two years in jail.

According to the Prosecution the residents of the house managed to apprehend AGQ, 25 and MSM, 22 at noon on Friday April 16.

Although the convicts have denied the accusation, they were found guilty by the Dubai Criminal Court.

In the first testimony of one of the victims, Raman Amalat 42, an Indian cleaner, he said he was coming back from work to his house in the Al Jaffiliya area.

As he entered the room a man walked in behind him.

When Raman asked him about his identity, he said he was the CID.

Raman asked him to show an ID but the man pulled a knife and pointed it at Raman’s chest and asked him to hand over his wallet.

Raman handed over the wallet and the accused found Dh900.

As the attacker was about to leave the room Raman saw another man was threatening his roommate Kinjelsi with a knife in the outside room.

Immediately, Raman jumped on the back of his attacker and pulled him down to the ground.

The rest of the victims and some other workers also rushed in to help and tied the two with a rope and called the police.

Nasib Abbas, 22, a policeman, testified that when he rushed to the victim’s house he found the two attackers tied up and they had jewellery and money with them.
