UAE Central Bank alerts banks on internet hacking

The Central Bank issued a circular yesterday calling on banks in the country to take the necessary measures against internet hacking.

They urge banks for full cooperation with the UAE Security Department to secure its networks on the Internet and to avoid any hackers from attacking their sites by third parties, reported Al Khaleej newspaper.

According to the report the technical experts in the UAE Central Bank earlier foiled attempt to hack and sabotage the bank site on the Internet.

Meanwhile confidential sources confirmed that the hackers from Israel were responsible for such attacks.

Bob Thompson the Director of Information Technology at the Central Bank said the hackers attacked the network of the bank by flooding false information which would lead to the collapse of the information system of the bank and led to a chaos.

On the other hands banking experts expressed their fully cooperating with the circular of the Central Bank, and praised such quick actions aimed at maintaining the security and safety of the banking sector and not exposed to breakthroughs.

But they also stressed that banking systems are difficult to be broken or circumvented by hackers since these systems are fully protected.

They also warned of the possibility of hacking customer accounts as a result of misuse of cards, whether credit or ATM cards, particularly through the suspicious sites on the Internet.

They asked the clients to be careful when using the card online and use cards with small balances for the implementation of these processes.
