It seems happy times are here for professionals and jobseekers in the UAE as the number of listed vacancies are soaring in the country, with November being the best month of the year.

According to the latest Monster Employment Index, UAE has exceeded the year-ago level by a significant 19 per cent following a two per cent annual drop the previous month.

“The UAE has bounced back in November as online recruitment activity exceeded the year-ago level by almost a fifth (19 per cent),” says Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/ Middle- East/ South East Asia).

“This rise is contributing to the increase in consumer optimism for the UAE and across the region. Interestingly, most of the growth has been fuelled by increased hiring activity in the non-oil sector,” he adds further.

Among industry sectors, BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) continued to lead, the index shows.

According to recruitment firm, Robert Half UAE professionals in banking, accounting and finance, are in demand this year and this is likely to go up in 2015.

Experts at the firm say accounting and finance recruitment has returned to pre-recessionary levels, with companies expanding existing teams as well as investing in new initiatives.

Next on the list of growing industries, as per the index, are engineering, construction and real estate, followed by IT and Telecom/ISP.  In comparison, the hospitality sector recorded the steepest annual decline with education and retail faring slight better.

Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity in the Middle East based on a real-time review of tens of thousands of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career websites and online job listings. The index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.
