Rainy conditions continue to bring relief in this sweltering summer heat, with Ras Al Khaimah and parts of the Northern Emirates experiencing heavy showers yesterday afternoon.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology, UAE has also confirmed that the wet conditions will continue until Tuesday, causing a temperature dip of five to six degrees.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, a NCMS spokesperson said: “Ras Al Khaimah is experiencing moderate to heavy showers, with this weather pattern to continue across the country for another day.”

“The rainy weather has been caused by the eastern wind patterns that have blown clouds over the Gulf of Oman towards the UAE,” he said.

Facilitating the rain is the cloud seeding operation that NCMS has undertaken.

The spokesperson added: “Following Sunday’s showers, we also have a Jetstream over Fujairah, which will then head towards the northern areas to add to precipitation and increase the chances of rain in the country.”

With the clouds moving from east to north, NCMS predicts rain in the northern parts of Abu Dhabi also over the next few hours.

However, the weather change will also bring high winds and dusty conditions over open areas and in some inland areas, as per NCMS, with rough seas also being reported.

“We are cautioning fishermen and sailors to expect rough seas until tomorrow, with waves up to six feet, due to the easterly flow if winds,” he stated.
