The World Swedish Organisation for Neck and Spinal Column Injuries on Wednesday announced the launch of its activities outside European countries from the UAE as its first destination during a ceremony at the Metropolitan Hotel which was attended by a group of specialists and experts.
The organization announced the selection of Hessa Abdullah bin Suleiman as its official representative for its activities in the UAE, the GCC and the Arab world.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Antoine El Khoury, the organisation's Administrative Representative, said: "The continuous support and the growing interest shown by Hessa Abdullah have encouraged us to expand the activities of our organisation beyond Europe, and we consider the UAE one of the most important countries as a platform of innovation and excellence, thus we chose it to be our first destination in the Arab world."
"Our organisation is non-political national and non-profit organisation, which is run by a team of volunteers, including experts and neck injury victims. Our organisation's message is to provide help and advice to people suffering from neck and spine diseases."
The World Swedish Organisation was established in 2002, and headquartered in the Kingdom of Sweden. A few years later, it opened commissariats in Denmark, Norway, Fenland, Brussels and Germany. The organisation has more than 1,000 members, including professionals and experts as well as neck and spine injury victims, as it helps provide advices, consultations and curative plans for three cases a day.
Commenting on her selection as the organisation's representative, Hessa said: "Neck and spine injuries are one of the most critical conditions affecting our society, but do not receive the due attention. However, I was amazed by the technology used in treating people with neck and spine injures which I got to see it when I got the chance to know the organization's activities and the new methods of treatment or free consultations provided by neck pain experts and professionals to the people who suffer from neck and spine pain."
She added that: "Although I am not a neurologist or orthopedic doctor, or a specialist in this field , nor one of the sick people who suffered a lot of pain and long years of deprivation from living a normal life, I decided to join the organisation's team of volunteers after I realised how this organisation managed to bring sick people who suffered from disability and paralysis back to life through the provision of advice and therapeutic techniques and modern methods of sound treatment."
"I decided to join the work team and help them as much I can, and to convey their message to the specialized people, hoping to activate this organization's the activity in my dear country as the first step, as well as to open an official representative office of the Organization and then expand its activity to all the GCC and other Arab countries."
