Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Space Agency, stressed that the Agency has become an international example and a model to be followed, as well as a standard for countries that strive to launch ambitious space programmes, projects, initiatives and agencies.

During a speech that was given on his behalf by Mohamed Saif Al Maqbali, Member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Space Agency, in a ceremony today that was organised by the Agency for the third anniversary of its launch, he stated that the UAE Space Agency has become a model for translating visions, strategies and government plans to form an integrated system that could help to develop a vital sector, which can offer prominent contributions to many other national sectors. He also stressed that the Agency has become the largest space agency in the region to manage a modern and developed space programme.

He added that since its launch, the Agency has accomplished many successes and achievements, based on clear and methodical frameworks that were drawn from the vision of the wise leadership, to which the Agency attributes its current prominent stature among the most important international space agencies, with the respect and appreciation of various international space organisations and institutions.

The ceremony, which was attended by Dr. Al Falasi, witnessed the launch of a commemorative postal stamp for the 3rd anniversary of the UAE Space Agency’s establishment, in co-operation with Emirates Post Group.

The stamp features an innovative black background that symbolises outer space, including the planet Mars and the Hope Spacecraft that will begin its mission to discover the planet, when launched in 2020.

The UAE Space Agency also launched its new website, which was designed in an innovative way and includes modern interactive technologies, to reflect the Agency’s identity and clarify its message through diverse sections that can be easily viewed, in line with its exceptional stature, the upcoming stages of its work, and its international reputation among its equals.

The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Eng. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the Agency, alongside several employees and government officials, as well as connected parties and companies working and operating in the national space sector, and its local and international partners.
