Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and Managing Director of the Higher Committee on Hosting the World Expo 2020, presented a strong case for Dubai’s bid to host World Expo 2020 at the 154th BIE General Assembly in Paris today.

"I am now delivering what is likely to be one of the most important speeches of my life," Reem Al Hashemi said.

Dubai will strive to present an unforgettable experience for the World Expo 2020 guests as the emirate is capable of hosting the world, she said.

“I stand before you representing millions… We are committed to bring about positive change in the future. Millions and millions of people in our region look to Dubai as a minaret worthy of hosting the Expo 2020,” Reem Al Hashimi told the delegates.

Today four cities are presenting their final bids for the World Expo 2020 in Paris.

People in the UAE and other neighbouring countries are glued to the TV sets and other social media sources to follow the latest news about Expo 2020 bid.

Reem Al Hashimi said: “Dubai Expo 2020 will allocate a pavilion for every country. We strive to present an unforgettable experience for Expo 2020 guests. The World Expo has inspired us and made us stronger. My generation has been inspired by our forefathers, they have entrusted us with a city that is capable of hosting the world.”

The UAE’s Minister of State and Managing Director of the Higher Committee on Hosting the World Expo 2020 said Dubai Expo 2020 will be the first carbon neutral mega-event.

"I hope you have been touched by the spirit of our young country. We have pioneered the concept of one pavilion-one nation. We will endeavor to give the world an exquisite and memorable Expo. We will give Expo 2020 the recognition it deserves," she said, adding that "UAE’s bid to host Expo2020 enjoys huge popular support. The region is looking forward to this event."
