UAE to provide quality healthcare for all

The UAE Health Council is seeking to standardise health policies nationwide and provide high-quality health services for all, according to Minister of Health Dr Hanif Hassan Ali.

"The private sector is an important strategic partner for the public sector in providing health care services. The government takes care of investments in the health sector and partners with private health sector in providing affordable health services for all," the Minister added in remarks at the opening of the Council's 11th meeting in Dubai.

The meeting, chaired by the minister, discussed proposals pertaining to the new federal law on the pharmacy profession, regulation of medical products and pharmaceutical facilities.

The council also called for the reshuffling of a committee on people with special needs and the setting up of a team to be chaired by Dr Juma'a Balhoul, deputy chairman of the council, to monitor challenges facing the private health sector.

Other issues discussed at the meeting include the referral of prisoners between hospitals, medical doctors licensing and others.
