As the Mercury inches closer to the 50 degrees Celsius mark, respite will be limited as the weekend promises to be another scorcher across the UAE.

The country’s weather forecaster has called it as a hot and hazy weekend, fueled by warm winds that will blow dust and sand over open areas across the next 48 hours.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology has already clocked in 49.3°C as the highest temperature recorded this week at Umm Azimul, Abu Dhabi at 3.45pm.

The weather this weekend is only going to follow suit.

According to the NCMS, Friday will see the heat sizzle across most areas of the UAE, with the eastern and the southern areas further experiencing “hazy and partly cloudy weather with some towering clouds during afternoon”.

The NCMS further added: “Moderate to fresh winds, will result in blowing dust, especially over the northern areas of the UAE.”

The internal areas of the UAE could see highs of 48°C, with humidity levels reaching 80 per cent, while the coastal areas will be slightly cooler at 44°C, with humidity rising to 90 per cent.

The sea on Friday will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

The weather on Saturday will follow a similar pattern, with the hot weather continuing to dampen outdoor activities across most areas.

The weather will also be hazy and partly cloudy over the eastern and the southern areas with some towering clouds during afternoon.

The moderate to fresh winds will continue into Saturday, causing blowing dust, especially over the northern areas.

The sea will remain moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
