UAE weekend weather: Rain, spike in temperatures

The first weekend of the New Year will bring a spike in temperatures for UAE residents, even as Saturday spells relief for many with rain forecasted across parts of the country.

Neighbouring Qatar has also been experiencing isolated showers over the past 48 hours.

The UAE’s National for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has forecasted the first day of 2016 promises to be fair in general with partly cloudy at times.

Another increase in temperatures is on the cards, with the NCMS stating the internal areas of UAE could see the Mercury hover close to 30 degrees Celsius on Friday.

The cloud cover, however, will increase gradually, especially towards the UAE islands and northwards.

Moderate to fresh wind, causing some blowing dust at times.

The sea will be moderate, getting rough during afternoon and evening in Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in Oman Sea.

Relief will be on the horizon on Saturday, with the partly cloudy weather finally giving way to rainfall over scattered areas.

The cloud cover will increase gradually, especially towards islands and northwards, taking us into Sunday.

The rest of the weather will be blow in moderate to fresh winds, causing some blowing dust at times.

Sea will be rough in Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.
