UAE woman jailed 4 years for 'drug-driving'

A court in Khorfakkan sentenced an Emirati woman to four years in prison and fined her Dh20,000 after she was caught driving under the influence of drugs.

The Arabic language daily 'Al Bayan' said police also seized an amount of drugs with the woman after searching her car which was involved in an accident last month.

“She said that she uses drugs for treatment as she is psychologically ill. Medical tests showed that had taken hashish,” the paper said, quoting police.
