His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, has issued Law No.3 for the year 2016, on the amendment of Law No. 2, 2012, on dealing with impounded and neglected vehicles.

According to the amended law, the Department of Public Works and General Services, in co-ordination with the Umm Al Qaiwain Police General Headquarters, will issue a removal order of the abandoned vehicle.

If not removed upon this order, the department will notify the UAQ Police to impound the vehicle. Regarding the neglected vehicles that do not carry traffic plates, the UAQ Police will immediately seize them. In that case, an owner has to contact the UAQ police to get the vehicle released after payment of a fine, administrative fee and decoding of impounding fees.

After some three months from the date of seizure, the UAQ Police will advertise in two widely circulated newspapers in Arabic and English, or on the police website, that the vehicle will be auctioned in a certain period of time in case the owner does not show up.

This law is effective from the date of issuance and will be published in the official gazette.
